#1 My thoughts. Funny this chapter. Though her mother is still reacting like a zealot, it feels like Janette is less appalled. Though she was looking forward to school, because of the bullying she's no longer as eager to be there. Because of this she seems more comfortable at home. Even her mothers craziness appears comforting. I can't tell if its written this way or if it's just my reaction. Maybe my analysis will show. Actually upon reflection, the home life seems crazier than ever as I review the chapter to write this. Janette seems smarter, poorer and seething religious zealot in comparison to her class mates. I wonder what the religion of everyone else is, if any. I was pretty upset at the neglect of her mother regarding her deafness. It seemed her mother was unable to deal with the illness. She seemed uneasy even as she wrote it off as rapture. Her acceptance of the care of others, and avoidance of the whole situation told me she had fear of the situation, or was e
